Gaza peace deal: World leaders react after Trump, US help broker deal

From Global News.

Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas signed a ceasefire and hostage-release agreement on Thursday, in the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to end the war in Gaza.

"My thanks to President Trump for his leadership on this, and to the Qataris, Egypt and Turkiye, who’ve done really important work in the negotiations. It is a relief to the world, and I think particularly of the hostages who’ve been held a very long time and their families, and of all civilians in Gaza who’ve been so affected by this conflict,” said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the agreement and said the United Nations is ready to help.

"The United Nations stands ready to provide its full support. We and our partners are prepared to move now," Guterres said in New York. He called for full and sustained access for humanitarian workers in Gaza.
