Jeffrey Goldberg, Meghna Chakrabarti, and Rep. Jake Auchincloss in Boston

From The Atlantic.

The Atlantic’s November 2025 issue was dedicated to “The Unfinished Revolution,” a project that examines the founding of the United States and brings the nation’s history to bear on its present—and its future.

To celebrate this project, Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic, and Meghna Chakrabarti, host of On Point, sat down at WBUR’s CitySpace in Boston for a conversation about America at 250 and the most urgent, complex and challenging questions the country is facing. Then, Goldberg interviewed Representative Jake Auchincloss, a rising political star in Massachusetts, to discuss his thoughts on our current political climate, the future of democracy and how the country can collectively move through the next 250 years.

These conversations were part of The Atlantic Across America event series. In 1857, The Atlantic’s founders wrote that their magazine would make a sincere and honest effort to represent and champion what they called “the American idea.” The Atlantic will visit all 50 states in a series of events where we will surface and engage with the most urgent, complex, and distinctly American questions of the moment in the places where they are unfolding.
