PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” are extremely harmful to human health. Studies have found they exist nearly everywhere, from air, water and soil to many consumer products. It’s hard to completely avoid these highly durable chemicals, says investigative journalist Mariah Blake, who wrote a book exploring how PFAS became so widespread in one small community. But there are actions people can take to reduce their exposure. She sat down with PBS News’ William Brangham to offer these six tips.
