An Ontario company that put down paid a deposit on a $51-million deal to buy a luxury hotel in Richmond, B.C., walked away weeks later because of “uncertainty” over the Cowichan Tribes aboriginal title ruling, according to the marketers of the property.
As the fallout continues from the controversial ruling, B.C. Premier David Eby is promising a backstop for property owners that could be upwards of $150 million.
