From DW News.
Ukraine’s peace negotiator Rustem Umerov has said the second day of talks aimed at bringing an end to Russia’s war achieved "real progress". He and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are in Berlin for meetings with US envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Zelenskyy met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Chancellery. Merz emphasised that the legal and material guarantees the US has put on the table are considerable and the talks offer the biggest chance yet for peace in Ukraine. Zelenskyy agreed that these guarantees are crucial to any ceasefire. The two leaders then sat down for dinner with other European leaders. With analysis from DW’s Chief Political Editor, Michaela Küfner, and from Orysia Lutsevych, head of the Ukraine Forum at Chatham House.
