Republican U.S. Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California has died, lawmakers confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 6. During comments before fellow Republicans, President Donald Trump remembered LaMalfa as a "fantastic person."

LaMalfa, 65, served in the California State Assembly and State Senate before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012.
