Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva welcomes Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, in Rio de Janeiro. "Brazil is a key partner of the European Union in the areas of trade, investment, climate, multilateralism (…), democracy and human rights," the European Council says in a statement.
