According to media reports, an American led draft proposal for the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire would allow Hamas to retain some of its weapons. Nickolay Mladenov, executive member of Trump’s Board of Peace and High Representative for Gaza, did not comment on the reports during a high level debate at the Munich Security Conference.
In this special edition of Conflict Zone, DW’s Sarah Kelly moderated a discussion on Trump’s vision for a “New Gaza.” The panel brought together the foreign ministers of the Palestinian Authority and Spain, senior representatives from the U.S and the UAE, as well as High Representative for Gaza. They debated Gaza’s future—addressing the humanitarian crisis, security challenges, the question of Hamas disarmament, and the broader path toward a two state solution.
