Transatlantic coordinator Metin Hakverdi tells DW that German Chancellor Merz made it clear during the Munich Security Conference that Europe does not want US interference in its democracy and sovereignty. Hakverdi says that in a worst-case scenario, there will be a separation from the US, but that Germany remains hopeful that the US will remain a strong partner and NATO ally.
