“So proud”: Doug Ford praises Iranian community for “largest” rally in the world

From Global News.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford praised demonstrators at Toronto’s rally on Saturday as part of a "Global Day of Action" for those in support of regime change who gathered to demand more decisive action from world leaders.

“I was so proud of the Iranian community,” Ford said on Tuesday.

“I said 200,000 (people attended), but now I hear it (was) over 300-350,000 — the largest in the world. These people from that community were handing roses to police officers thanking them. They were cleaning up the garbage after," the premier added.

People marched down Yonge Street to the beat of drums and chants of “King Reza Pahlavi” at a rally in North York, as similar protests took place in major cities around the world.

Demonstrators called for an end to government repression in Iran as widespread protests inside the country have been met with violent crackdowns.
