From Global News.
Mourners gathered in Minneapolis, Minn. over the weekend to lay flowers, pray and hold a candlelight vigil for Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen shot and killed by federal immigration agents.
The Department of Homeland Security says a Border Patrol agent fired in self-defence after Pretti resisted attempts to disarm him, an account local leaders dispute.
Furthermore, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti committed “domestic terrorism” by interfering with a targeted operation before being gunned down.
“We need ICE out of Minnesota. They are not making us more safe,” U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar said, pointing to bystander videos that appear to show Pretti on the ground when shots were fired.
The killing has intensified protests against the deployment of thousands of federal agents to the city as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
