From USA TODAY.
Alex Pretti was shot and killed in Minneapolis by a Border Patrol officer according to multiple news outlets on Saturday, Jan. 24. Pretti was reportedly a 37-year-old ICU nurse.
State and federal agencies have provided differing accounts on the nature of the shooting in Minnesota, with US Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino suggesting Pretti was armed with a handgun at the time of the shooting while Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has said an investigation into the nature of the shooting needs to reveal more. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Pretti was a U.S. citizen with a permit to carry a firearm.
The situation follows weeks of protests against DHS and ICE tactics in Minnesota, including the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent on Jan. 7.
