Auto-sector tariffs overshadow this year’s Canadian International AutoShow

It’s the time of year when automobile manufacturers show off their latest offerings as the industry copes with an American administration putting Canadian automakers on the defensive.

“We haven’t really changed anything, to be honest. We’re trying to stay calm. You know when we look at it objectively, I think the North American automotive industry works best when all three countries are participating,” said Scott MacKenzie of Toyota Canada.

As Seán O’Shea reports, the Canadian automotive industry wants to see the outcome of a new Canada-U.S. trade deal — one they hope will not include tariffs.
