Bird Flu Kills Half Of Female Elephant Seals On Remote Island

Apparently bird flu wasn’t just for the birds. Scientists with the British Antarctic Survey say one species on a remote island was hit hard by the outbreak. South Georgia Island lies in the southern Atlantic Ocean, east of Cape Horn and north of Antarctica. Researchers say the island lost 47 percent of its southern female elephant seals.
