From Global News.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is returning to Ottawa after a week abroad focused on expanding Canada’s trade ties, including meetings in China and a major foreign policy speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The government is now signalling India as a potential next priority, with officials suggesting Carney could travel there as early as February.
Ottawa has been working to boost trade with India since last summer, including meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 and G20, despite controversy over foreign interference allegations.
Carney says Canada will engage strategically with global partners, acknowledging not all countries share the same values while pursuing economic opportunities for Canadians.
