Longtime Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland says she’ll step down as a member of Parliament in the "coming weeks" after accepting a new role advising Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Her departure means a byelection will be called as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government remains one seat shy of a majority mandate.
