The mayor of El Paso, Renard Johnson, has criticized the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its decision to close the airspace around the city. The airspace has since been reopened after the FAA announced its closure for 10 days due to a dispute with the Pentagon over the use of counter-drone lasers.
