Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the second phase of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Gaza could start soon, and has hinted at an expectation for Hamas militants to disarm.

“We very shortly expect to move into the second phase, which is more difficult," Netanyahu said on Sunday.

"I think it’s important to make sure Hamas complies, not only with the ceasefire, but also with their commitment which they undertook to disarm and have Gaza demilitarized," he added.

Netanyahu says he will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump later this month to discuss the matter.
