Global National: Jan. 24, 2026 | Man shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis

Federal law enforcement agents have shot and killed another person on the streets on Minneapolis. Reggie Cecchini has more on the third shooting that has further inflamed the growing tensions between federal agents, local officials and residents.

U.S. President Donald Trump is again threatening Canada, this time with 100 per cent tariffs on all Canadian imports if a trade deal with China goes ahead. It marks an about-face from Trump’s stance just a few days ago and as Jillian Piper reports, the threat was accompanied by a familiar taunt.

Many Canadians remain bundled up as a polar vortex has the mercury dropping across much of the country. From the Prairies to the Atlantic provinces, orange and yellow warnings remain in effect with freezing temperatures and wind chills dropping to as low as minus-50 in some parts. Lexy Benedict has more from Pearson International Airport, where a slew of disruptions has hit Canada’s largest airport.

Plus, with this Arctic blast rolling through much of the country, staying warm indoors is the name of the game. But as Johnny James reports, in New Brunswick, they’re lacing up their skates and swapping winter gear for kilts.
