The counting of votes begins at a polling station in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, where the presidential election took place. Nearly 6.8 million voters were called to the polls to choose between nine candidates, including the incumbent General Mamadi Doumbouya, the clear favourite, who had promised not to run after seizing power in a coup.
