From Global News.
Ahmed al-Ahmed – the man who tackled one of the two gunmen responsible for the death of at least 15 people at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday – is being hailed a “hero” by family members and witnesses of the tragic antisemitic mass shooting.
“What can I even say? I went through a tough time [that] only God knows about,” al-Ahmed told a reporter from his hospital bed Monday.
Al-Ahmed – who was shot several times by the second gunman in Sunday’s attack at a Hannukah event – asked for prayers and sent positive messages to Australians amid the devastation.
New South Wales Police declared the attack a “terrorist incident” and confirmed authorities had fatally shot one of the gunmen. The other suspect was arrested. The assailants were father and son.
On the heels of the nation’s deadliest mass shooting in decades, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has vowed to propose stricter gun laws.
