From Global News.
The temporary closure of the El Paso airspace was discussed during a Senate Commerce Committee hearing at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.
When asked whether there would be an investigation, The Chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, Jennifer Homendy, said that her board only investigates after a tragedy has occurred, but pointed out that amid the DCA crash investigation, her team found the safety culture in the FAA was not good and that many people are afraid to speak out in fear of retaliation.
The Federal Aviation Administration reopened the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas on Wednesday morning, just hours after it announced a 10-day closure that would have grounded all flights to and from the airport.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a post on X that the FAA and the Defense Department “acted swiftly to address a cartel drone incursion. The threat has been neutralized and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region.”
