Hundreds in Israel have paid their last respects at a funeral for the last hostage recovered from Gaza – after more than two years of war and grief.
Ran Gvili, a 24-year-old police officer was killed while fighting Hamas militants during the October 7 terror attack in 2023. His body was found by Israeli forensic teams in a cemetery in northern Gaza and will now be laid to rest in his hometown of Meitar. Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the country can now ‘slowly begin’ healing. The ceremony marks the end of a painful chapter and completes a key phase of Trump’s peace plan —paving the way for the next phase.
