In Syria, time is running out on a ceasefire between the government and Kurdish forces – as talks over the future of Kurdish-controlled areas continue. The foreign ministry in Damascus had denied reports of an agreement to extend the truce. One of the factors weighing on negotiations is the ongoing transfer of Islamic State militants held by the Kurds, from Syria to Iraq. While their fate hangs in the balance, so does the welfare of their partners – and children who are growing up behind barbed wire.
