Thailand’s government says a rocket attack from Cambodia has killed a 63-year-old villager, the first Thai civilian death since renewed fighting at the border.

Fighting started again on Dec. 7 following a skirmish at the border that wounded two Thai soldiers.

Both sides are battling over a disputed border land that includes ancient temple ruins. More than two dozen people have been killed and over half a million displaced.

A ceasefire proposal backed by U.S. President Donald Trump has so far failed to take hold.
