These lizards blow bubbles underwater and use them like scuba tanks

Blowing bubbles isn’t just fun and games for the water anole (Anolis aquaticus), a small, semiaquatic species of anole lizard that’s native to Costa Rica and Panama.

In 2024, researchers reported in Biology Letters that the lizards create bubbles underwater and use them like miniature scuba tanks when fleeing predators above the surface.
