The leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a peace deal, alongside U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at ending the conflict in eastern Congo.

Trump hailed the two leaders as “heroes” and said that the U.S. would also sign bilateral agreements with each of the countries that would open up access to critical minerals for the U.S.

The American president said the agreement would create a “framework for economic prosperity” for both Rwanda and Congo.
