Trump says “we ended war” in Gaza, calling ceasefire “momentous breakthrough”

From Global News.

Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, a ceasefire and hostage deal that could be a first step toward ending a two-year-old conflict that has roiled the Middle East.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the ceasefire is a "momentous breakthrough" in the Middle East. He said that in his view, "we ended the war in Gaza" and "created peace."

He said he believed it would lead to "lasting peace."

Trump announced that Gaza hostages should be released "early next week" on Monday or Tuesday and that he hopes to attend a signing ceremony in Egypt.

"Gaza is going to be slowly redone," Trump said and added, "I think you are going to see some tremendous countries stepping up and putting up a lot of money and taking care of things."
