Turkey’s earthquake survivors: ‘Children need to laugh again’ | DW News

It’s been nearly three years since two powerful earthquakes hit southern Turkey and parts of Syria, killing more than 50,000 people and reducing entire cities to rubble. UNICEF estimates that 4-million children are among those affected by the disaster. They’ve experienced loss, displacement, and hardship – and many are still grappling with the trauma of those events and face daily reminders in a region that’s still trying to rebuild. That makes days when children can simply be children all the more important. DW Correspondent Julia Hahn reports.
