Jesse Jackson, the Martin Luther King protégé who ran for the Democratic nomination for president twice in the 1980s, is dead at 84. Rosemary Sadlier, former president of the Ontario Black History Society, said Jackson will be remembered for his charisma, for speaking truth to power and for being ‘unafraid to name anti-Black racism and to hold institutions accountable.’
