A homicide investigation is underway Tuesday evening after a person was killed near the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus (UTSC).

Authorities say when officers arrived at Highland Creek Trail and Old Kingston Road, they found one victim suffering from gunshot wounds – who succumbed to their injuries shortly after and was pronounced dead on the scene.

An emergency alert has been issued to students on-campus, advising people to stay inside if they are in a building, or leave the area if they are outside.
