Washington is reviewing a revised EU-backed peace plan submitted by Kyiv. The 20-point proposal sent to the White House is an updated version of a draft which was rejected by Ukraine as being too favourable to Russia. This latest proposal calls for Ukraine to join the EU, possibly as early as January 2027. US-backing could the EU to pressure Hungary to end its opposition to Ukraine’s EU application process. In an exclusive interview, the EU’s enlargement commissioner, Marta Kos, explains to DW whether Ukraine membership by 2027 is technically possible.
