WATCH: What Vance said at Ole Miss Turning Point USA event

From PBS NewsHour.

Students waited hours in the rain Wednesday to see Vice President JD Vance and Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk in an event at the University of Mississippi — Kirk’s first campus appearance since the assassination of her husband, Charlie, earlier this year. The political advocacy organization founded by Charlie Kirk is forging ahead with its tour of college campuses with Erika Kirk as its CEO. Turning Point USA has visited Virginia Tech, the University of Oklahoma and Indiana University in Bloomington, among other schools, in recent months.

Thousands filled the 9,500-seat basketball arena during the Ole Miss event, when Vance called on students and other attendees to get involved in politics. “Despair is a sin. Don’t give into the sin of despair. Let’s keep fighting to save America,” he said. Liz Landers was in Oxford, Mississippi, for the event, and shares what she saw.
