Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer spoke on the Senate floor on Day 21 of the government shutdown. Thune accused Democrats of "putting the demands of far-left activists" ahead of the American people, to which Schumer later responded, "What the heck is he talking about?" Schumer emphasized Democrats’ demand to extend health insurance subsidies.
