From Global News.
The United Nations’ top legal body, the International Court of Justice, said Wednesday that Israel must allow the U.N. aid agency, known as UNWRA, to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian enclave.
Isreal banned UNRWA from operating in Gaza last year, claiming some of its employees were members of militant group Hamas, or other affiliated organizations.
On Wednesday, the panel of 11 judges found Israel has an obligation to ensure the basic needs of the civilian population in Gaza are met and that it is forced to support relief efforts provided by the UN and its entities.
Nathaniel Dove looks at how the decision could affect the situation on the ground and for those who desperately need aid.
