From Adam Savage’s Tested.

The beautiful thing about a historical object is not just the object itself, but what the signs of its use say about that object. In this case, Adam Savage examines the Remington noiseless typewriters that belonged to poet and Lincoln biographer Carl Sandburg, with every groove telling a story. At the National Park Service’s Museum Conservation Lab, objects conservation post-graduate fellow Daisy Greenwell takes us through her approach to restoring these artifacts, which includes creating custom tools to address years of dust, gunk and corrosion, especially on the undersides.
