U.S. President Donald Trump says he won’t be speaking to Prime Minister Mark Carney “for a while” after cutting off trade talks and threatening Canada with an additional 10 per cent tariff

Speaking in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Carney said Monday that Canada was close to a deal before Trump pulled the plug on negotiations in response to an anti-tariff advertisement run by the Ontario government.

He added that Canadians should take Trump at his word when it comes to the cancelled negotiations.
