Twenty-two months ago, King Charles announced he would undergo treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

In a national message to the U.K. Friday, the 77-year-old monarch revealed that his cancer treatment will be reduced in the new year, because of “early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders.”

Though it is unclear what type of cancer Charles was diagnosed with, it was discovered after treatment for an enlarged prostate – which was noted as a “separate issue of concern.”
