From CBC News.
Jimmy Lai is one of the most high-profile critics of Beijing and the Chinese Communist Party. His son, Sebastien Lai, joins Matt Galloway to talk about his father’s treatment in jail and his fight for democracy as he faces a possible life sentence. On Dec. 15, the 78-year-old was convicted under Hong Kong’s national security law after pleading not guilty to all charges. Lai, the founder of the now-shuttered pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily, was arrested in 2020 following mass anti-government protests and has been held in custody ever since.
