UN warns Gaza food crisis remains fragile despite famine easing

The United Nations says famine has been pushed back in Gaza, but warns the humanitarian situation remains fragile and severe.

A new food security assessment estimates 1.6 million people, more than 75 per cent of the population, still face extreme food insecurity.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said conditions remain dire for civilians across the enclave.

“It breaks my heart to see the ongoing scale of human suffering in Gaza,” Guterres said.
