The U.S. Coast Guard is pursuing another sanctioned oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea, as the Trump administration appears to intensify its targeting of such vessels connected to the Venezuelan government. Alejandro Velasco, an associate professor of Latin American history at New York University, explains whether the U.S.’s active pursuit of Venezuela-linked oil tankers is legally sound under international law.
