Pope Leo says denying help to poor is “rejecting God” in 1st Christmas Eve mass

From Global News.

Pope Leo XIV celebrated his first Christmas Eve mass as spiritual leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics.

Before mass, Leo arrived on St. Peter’s Square to bless the faithful that had gathered outside.

Pope Leo, who has made care for immigrants a key theme in the first months of his papacy, told followers that God is present in every human being.

“On Earth, there is no room for God if there is no room for the human person," he said. "To refuse one is to refuse the other."

Leo, the first U.S. pope, is celebrating his first Christmas after being elected in May by the world’s cardinals to succeed Pope Francis.
