From Global News.
French President Emmanuel Macron has publicly raised concerns about rhetoric from U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting Canada could become a “51st state,” calling it a sign Washington is turning away from allies.
Speaking to ambassadors in Paris, Macron warned the world is entering a period where international law is being replaced by the “law of the strongest.”
His remarks come amid renewed U.S. threats toward Greenland and days after a U.S. military operation in Venezuela.
Former UN ambassador Bob Rae says the comments align with a U.S. security strategy that prioritizes force to achieve its objectives.
