Egyptian tennis player makes “worst-ever” professional debut

From Global News.

Tennis Kenya said on Thursday they made a mistake in granting a wildcard entry to a player named Hajar Abdelkader, competing under an Egyptian flag, who struggles with the basics of tennis.

The 21-year-old amateur lost 6-0 6-0 to Lorena Schaedel, a German player ranked 1,026th in the world, in 37 minutes at an International Tennis Federation (ITF) W35 tournament on Wednesday.

Hosts of the event said Abdelkader was given a last-minute wildcard after another player withdrew shortly before the tournament.
