At first, the Vancouver Park board embraced the boy wizard saying in September, “We’re very happy to host this event in beautiful Stanley Park.”
But by October, following complaints by some in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, an emotional Mea culpa. "I’ve been really moved by your words, by the words from all the emails we’ve heard," said Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Scott Jensen.
There was backlash over Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s divisive views on sex and gender issues.
But did it hurt the event’s success? Not according to demand as ‘The Forbidden Forest’ experience has been extended.
