Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik made clear that the people of Greenland wish to remain part of Denmark ahead of a meeting between the Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers, U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday.

Frederik firmly stated his position regarding what he recognizes as a geopolitical crisis, “Greenland does not want to be owned by the USA. Greenland does not want to be governed by the USA. Greenland will not be part of the USA. We choose the Greenland we know today, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.” He said.

Greenland’s Minister for Mineral Resources, Naaja Nathanielsen, says the island’s population are quite worried and many are having difficulty sleeping at night. “We see no point in using weapons against each other. We should be friends. We are allies.”
