European leaders pushed back Sunday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened sweeping tariffs on eight European countries over their opposition to a U.S. acquisition of Greenland.
Officials from Poland, Italy, France, Britain, the Netherlands and the European Union warned the move would damage transatlantic relations, with some calling the threat coercive or outright blackmail, while residents in Denmark also reacted with disbelief.
The European Union is now weighing a coordinated response, including potential countermeasures, as ambassadors from all 27 member states met for emergency talks.
