The UK Prime Minister has said the decision on Greenland’s "belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone".

It has come as US President Donald Trump said he will impose a new 10% levy on goods from eight allied nations if they oppose his proposed takeover of the autonomous Danish territory.

Trump has called for the "complete and total purchase" of Greenland, adding that Denmark’s supporters had created "a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable".
