As U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his push to wrest control over Greenland from fellow NATO member Denmark, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen told journalists on Monday that all those who believe in international law should speak out "to show Trump that you can’t go further down this road."

"You can’t cross this line," he added.

Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday that he thought it would be "very unwise" for European governments to retaliate against any measures taken by the U.S. in their dispute over the Arctic island. He also denied that Trump’s ambition for the territory was not because he wasn’t awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
