Canada’s foreign policy “has shifted significantly” since Trudeau was PM: Anand

From Global News.

Speaking about what she described as an “incredibly volatile global environment” triggered by increasing economic and military threats across the world from U.S. President Donald Trump, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said that priorities have shifted significantly since Mark Carney became prime minister after former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down from government.

“Canada’s foreign policy, under a new prime minister, has shifted significantly – and certainly since I was the Minister of National Defence in 2021 to 2023,” Anand told reporters in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday.

The remark comes not only as Canada seeks to bolster its economic ties abroad, but as Trump threatens further tariffs against eight European countries pushing back against his plans to annex Greenland for what he calls the benefit of U.S. “national security.”

“We will continue to underline the importance of territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Anand said, doubling down on Canada’s support for Greenland and its people.
